The largest payoff of the year awaits participants in this Saturday’s Wingless Sprint Car Shootout sponsored by Hunt Magnetos and Petaluma Speedway. The lure of $2000-to-win, $1000 for second place, and $750 for third and a $200 payoff to every main event starter is expected to draw the top wingless sprint car drivers from throughout the state to Petaluma Speedway’s well-groomed, and very fast three-eighths-mile oval.

Nearly 30 entries vied for the top spot last season which was won by Darrell Hanestad of Clayton over Billy Aton of Benicia and Cameron Beard. Aton and Beard are expected to among the favorites to win this year’s event along with 2009 Petaluma Speedway Wingless Sprint Car champion Terry Schank Jr., who led the division with four feature wins, points runner-up Ryan Bernal, who posted a pair of victories, two-time feature winner Geoff Ensign, and Brandon Davis of Rohnert Park.

In addition to the excitement taking place on the track, Petaluma Speedway and Hunt Magnetos are also giving away to lucky ticket holders, a pair of new bicycles, one each to a boy and a girl, special hats, and other prizes.

On the program along with the Wingless Sprint Car Shootout will be the final points race of the season for the All-Pro Super Stocks and the Capital City Midgets.
